Praise for Weidhaas’ Historical Look at Famous Book Fair

In his book A History of the Frankfurt Book Fair, Peter Weidhaas traces 500 years of this remarkable fair, from its inception (sometime before 1462) to its Frankfurt Book Faircurrent state today.  Probably unknown to most of those outside the publishing industry, The Frankfurt Book Fair has been a part of, not only the publishing world, but European History for over five centuries. The Fair has featured some of the most prominent historical figures  including Elizabeth I and the Granddaddy of and maker of all things printed, Gutenberg.

Shelf Life writes, “Peter Weidhaas offers a most entertaining and historical look at the Fair, showing the importance of books through the centuries, and their importance is still strong today.”

The Winnipeg Free Press notes, “[Weidhaas] writes with insight, if with a touch of dryness, about the bazaar and the bizarre that make up the world’s largest annual meeting of minds and money.”
